Step outside

Getting outside and breathing in the fresh air might be just what you need!

After all the fun and games of the festive period you might feel like you need to clear your head and getting outside is proven to improve your mental wellbeing!

Filling your lungs with the cool air and letting your face feel the sunlight will feel so good and increase the amount of serotonin in your body, therefore improving your mood, also the vitamin D helps make our bones stronger and healthier! Bonus!

We suggest heading off to find a local park, beach or woodland… connecting with nature is proven to reduce feelings of stress and anxiety. Also, while soaking up all the good vibes and taking in the views why not do a little physical activity too? Go for a brisk walk, take a bike ride or throw a ball/frisbee around with your dog or friends – this will help boost your natural endorphins and leave you feeling more positive too!

If you can, get outside with friends or family… time spent with others gives you chance to share your experiences and provide emotional support for each other.  If you are heading out on a walk alone why not plan to call someone you’ve been meaning to catch up with, or check in on a relative or friend who lives far away.
